I just returned from an installation at a client’s home. Late last fall they decided to renovate their kitchen. They have a busy household and their dated kitchen was no no longer serving their needs. So, they gutted it and added a large island which serves as a spot for informal dining, homework and a large area to prep food.
With everything so fresh and updated, they wanted their living room furniture to be fresh, too. Here in the studio, we call this the domino effect. Once you update one room, others are certain to follow.
Since I worked primarily with the wife, my client’s husband was not involved in the process. However, he was home today during the installation and as I was getting ready to leave, he looked around the open concept home….the kitchen, dining room and at the new living room furniture we had installed and he said “it looks great…and everything matches.” I had to smile; good design is never an ‘accident’. It’s a well thought out plan of the client’s space, budget, lifestyle and needs.
In design, details ALWAYS matter. A big shout out to Deb Kelly for providing me with a gorgeous kitchen color scheme with which to work.
