Next week, I’m headed to the Dallas Furniture & Lighting Market, and I’m excited to share why these events are so crucial for Ruxana’s Home Interiors LLC.
While our mantra is CLASSIC and I’m not one to chase fleeting trends, keeping a pulse on industry developments is essential. But that’s not the primary reason I attend these shows. The truth is, attending trade shows allows me to be a better designer.
Discovering New Products
I’m always on the lookout for pieces that will solve clients’ problems or fit perfectly with current projects. These events are treasure troves of innovation, offering unique solutions that can make my projects more functional and beautiful.
Continuous Learning
Attending classes and workshops helps me keep my skills sharp, stay informed on industry changes, and learn about new technology. This ongoing education often translates into discovering new ways to save time and money, enhancing the value we bring to clients.
Testing and Exploration
I get hands-on with appliances, fixtures, home technology, and furniture, evaluating them for usability and cleanability – two crucial factors for many clients. I perform sit tests to assess comfort and make detailed notes on comfort and size. This Friday, I’m touring the factory of my absolute favorite sleeper sofa manufacturer. They hold a patent on a unique mechanism that offers the same comfort as a bed. Sleeper sofas are a must for vacation homes, especially in Vermont, where holidays often mean a house full of overnight guests.
Building Connections
Trade shows are also about connection. I have a circle of friends in the industry – award-winning, creative, forward-thinking designers who are as passionate about an industry we all love.
